Message from Your Mother

So, the truth is, your dog may have been exposed to some loud swearing today.

At least I can tell you the day started off with good intentions. Even if it finished in a less than desirable way.

I figured that given she was back with me for a few weeks it was important I kept her days as consistent as possible to how she lives with you.

I know you take her running twice a day.

Well you know me. I'm lazy and would happily let her sit with her feet up on the lounge all day with a doggy cocktail in hand.

But, for everyone's sake, I made a commitment to take her to the Dog Park every day.

I thought it would be good for both of us.

Fresh air. Sunshine. Exercise.

Well, after our first visit today, I was wrong.

Only one of us had fun. And that is the kind of fun with a capital F.U.N.

Look at her.

She enjoyed that picturesque dog park for all of two minutes.

Then she ran away and discovered something she liked way better.

I'm still breathless.

Your dog can run really, really fast.

So it's a good job I can shout really, really loud.

Because I sure as hell can only run really, really slow.

Yes, and I am licking my lips because I love drinking the filthy water.
.

What came out of my mouth when I finally caught up to her and realised I had to take her back home in my car, was just as filthy as she looked.

Oh, and just so you know, she now also answers to NO-O-OO-OO-OO-OO-O Stella, Get out of there Stella, What the ....... Stella............

Regardless, we will still go back again tomorrow.

But, this time I'll be prepared.

I'm taking gum boots so I can get in that muddy water with her.

Who knows? She might be on to something.

You only live once. Right?

Do you have a pet? What do you love about it?

Stella checking the post before I pressed publish. With a golden retriever you will never be alone  - they never let you out of their sight. Ever.

  1. Oh yes! I know this well. Having temps of 40 and higher these days, our dogs use every chance they get to find some wet puddles and cool themselves...but then they have to run over my just cleaned patio floors....they may have heard swearing too....hahaha

  3. I have had dogs but see no need to have another one now. For me dogs and kids go together well. Even with no resident dog we have the visiting granddog once in awhile. Since retrievers love water maybe you should take Stella to a lake. You tell Stella stories very well here. I can't wait for the next one.

    1. They do go together well. You are right, but they do make you exercise that is for sure so I like that idea. The dog has gone between my daughter in the City and me in the country. So she is having the best of both worlds. she goes to all the trendy cafes in the city and then runs wild here. My daughter wants to take her to the beach soon. She had to finish getting all her injections and she had to be desexed last week (which is why she is with me so she can be looked after). She is a real cutie and lots of fun but I am not sure I would want a dog all the time. Strangely, a few of my Airbnb guests have booked solely because of the dog. Can you imagine?

  4. Lilly , This story is so amusing. To remember that she is just like a two years old must be a very calming thought.
Although when my kid#2 was actually two years old and he would do any similar antic , I most often forgot that he was just two years old and the not so polite words were the only thing that came to my tongue.

    1. Yes they are just like 2 year olds. follow you everywhere. Get into mischief if you don't monitor what they are doing. Love your shoes ha ha. Just the same Kirti. So nice to see you in the blogosphere again.

  5. She is adorable. Pets are the best! They are exactly like toddlers and never grow up of course.

  7. Naturally, this is quite hysterical. No more pets for this lady .. I pet sit for Sammy the Maltese and Yoda the rescue cat for my daughter when she is out of town. You will have to go back a few of my posts to read the poem about our experience!

  10. How wonderful that you're having such a great time with Stella. I haven't had a pet since our pet hamster died in my classroom a couple decades ago.

  11. What I have always loved about my pets is that they are so forgiving and so very innocent - even when you feel they are guilty as sin! They always act natural, no airs and no conceit - what's not to love about that?
