Cooooeeeeee......

Is anyone out there?
Cos I'm back.
Again. Just like all those bad 70s rock groups...who keep going away and coming back.
Now don’t go falling off your chairs all at once.
Because take it from me that can be a very painful experience.
Recently, I was sitting on one of those office chairs (with wheels) in a group of 100  people totally engrossed in someone’s speech. It was so interesting that I leant forward just a little …..and you know where I am going with this right? It all happened in slow motion. The fickle chair decided to go in the opposite direction to me and I fell hard on the cold floor. A crumpled mess.

So, so humiliating…. and even more humiliating when one woman said to me as I held my hand on my painful backside….”I bet you’re glad you're well padded there because you may not bruise as much.”
There was silence. I felt all eyes move from the speaker to me and then firmly to my backside. Isn't it lucky that I’m not only clearly well padded but thick skinned as well?
I laughed through it because it’s the only way sometimes.
So other than free falling off chairs, what’s been happening?

I have a million and one crazy stories that I could tell you and no doubt will.
I didn’t run off with a wealthy Italian as Bill suggested in a comment on my last post despite looking really, really hard for one. Not.
In fact I can’t quite believe it’s been months and months since I have graced these pages with my presence. Does anyone agree that time really is going faster and faster? Or is that just because we are getting older? And older…
I got reacquainted with my blog around my late father's birthday when I came by to re-read his posts. My Dad will always live here so I will never close the blog. Ever.

I then started to get all sentimental about blogging and the good ol' blogging days. And then I wondered how you're all doing?

I kind of know what you are up to Peggy but please don’t tell me Aleta that your baby boy has started school or Bill that you’ve had five more grandkids or that your kids have graduated college Christine. And Naomi, Joanna and Vicki, have you had books published? And let's hope that Mike has not already celebrated a wedding anniversary yet.
As for me, I spent over a year living with my sister who has Parkinsons Disease and life was busy and blogging harder to do. So I put it to the side like some half finished knitting as there were more important things to do.
However, as I’ve now moved to the country, over an hour outside of Melbourne, my blogging interest is renewed.
I haven’t bought a pair of gum boots yet but when I open my front doors I can see cows grazing in the fields opposite. It's surreal. The sound of 'moos' during the night is certainly different from car horns, sirens and traffic.
I hope to show you more of the new house and tell you some of the crazy things that have been happening in posts to come. Meanwhile you can see some photos on Instagram if anyone uses it – just click on one of the pictures to the right and you can find me. I just started using it but I've already caught up with Betty, another great blogger, there too. Let me know if you have Instagram and I will follow you.
So how are you? No. Really. You've all been truly missed.

Cooeee – is an Aussie call for greeting someone at a distance in the bush or a long way off - far away.

    1. Thanks Naomi. I have caught up with your blog from time to time but never time to leave a comment. I will now though. Couldn't miss your award season posts. Mind you I saw Blue Jasmine finally. Yes Cate was great but I disliked the movie.

    1. Tell me it isn't so? Your daughter really is graduating. Wow that surprises me as I am sure I was reading your blog when she started high school. I must come over and find out all about your news.

  4. Missed you, girlfriend! So glad to see you posting again! ((HUGS)))

What a beeyotch that woman was to make that remark. Unbelievable. instead of sympathy or empathy, just nastiness. She must have been a very unhappy person - and jealous of your pretty face to boot!

Looking forward to seeing what you are doing with your new house - that is endless fun, making a new place yours, with the special things that your eyes and sense love all around it.
I'd love to hear moms at night and smell fresh air instead of hearing traffic and sucking up smog. You made a healthy serene choice, Lilly - I wish I had too!

My life? Hmmmm, I suspect my long-term housekeeper of stealing from me since things keep disappearing from the house, and I've had fingerprint locks installed so at least money doesn't disappear from my wallet anymore.
My memory has gotten REALLY bad, and I creak and hobble when I get up in the middle of the night. I'm still 60 pounds overweight.

All of that crabby grumpiness aside, it is good to see you back blogging again. (hugs) once more:)

    1. Hi Jody! Yes the decorating is fun but I have a long way to go. There were lime green curtains with large white flowers in every room almost. The first thing I did was pull them down. It will take a while to replace them. It is fun nonetheless. I am trying to do it to fit the budget as well....Oh that is not good about someone stealing. I hope its not the housekeeper after all you have done for her over the years. That would be rotten. I still have not gone on Pinterest since we last emailed. I find it hard to do it all lol. I hope your home is coming along as you want. And that your sibling has stopped the chase. Take Care and I will post photos of my bedroom soon.

  5. Holy right-click! Her blog is alive. (in a few years that won't make any sense because we will have move on from the mouse with smartphones, tablets)
More grandkids - no not yet which is fine. My niece brought her little baby over a week or so ago.
Hopefully the time with your sister helped both of you in many ways. Siblings are special people and not everyone gets to have them. I have 3 siblings that mean the world to me.
You got me to go back and look at my suggestion in my comment on your last post. I noticed that I didn't suggest this nice wealthy guy was Italian. Where did Italian come from? You have given me another thing to ponder - what's with Italians and why didn't my mother serve more spaghetti.

I took a look at your instagram collection. The entry deck pic - looks like a very nice place.

Oh since you seem to have been at a distance in the bush - Cooeee

    1. Hello Bill. Italian? Oops that might be my subconscious wish lol. I don't use a mouse now really and use a tablet most of the time. Yeah that entry deck looks a bit ridiculous, almost like a boardwalk. Glad you and your family are doing well. Be over to catch your blog soon enough.

    2. One thing about blog posts - they vary in quality and theme. Also some age better than others. Since you (I assume you would have commented) have not visited my blog in awhile here's two suggested posts. Just suggestions, you can start with any post you want.
      about blogging - http://afcsoac.blogspot.com/2014/02/an-example-of-how-my-blogging-is-going.html
about an Oscar nominated movie - http://afcsoac.blogspot.com/2014/01/we-all-hustle-to-survive.html

    3. OK Bill they better be good lol. Definitely interested in the Oscar nominated movie one because I just saw Blue Jasmine and couldn't get into it at all despite the fact that Cate Blanchett was as indeed brilliant as everyone says. Woody Allen films are not my thing but I was hoping this may have been different.

    4. Lilly I thought Blue Jasmine was complexingly thought provoking as the drama unfolded about an affluent woman whose life has fallen apart. Of course Cate Blanchett was absolutely phenomenal as the lead, but no one is disputing that fact.

Maybe you would like "Midnight in Paris" the 2011 Woody Allen film starring Owen Wilson. It was very enjoyable as Owen travels back in time in Paris in a literate and beauty-filled past.

  6. It was so nice to see your post pop up on my reader. Sometimes life takes precedence over blogging.

As for the lady with the comment about your padding. I hope you rolled one of the chairs roller wheels "accidentally" over her foot. I would of said mouth but I am assuming the chair wheel couldn't reach it)

I look forward to hearing about your new place and all your adventures.

  10. Hey Lilly,
Please know that you were missed. Sorry to hear about your sister . God gave us siblings so that we can see how love ' looks' and can test our patience at the same time.
I am sure the location of your new house will give you thousands of reasons to blog more frequently. I am all ears.
Life at my end is like that of a grasshopper. I hopped to India, did a 2 year stint with kids ,sent the elder one to college and now back to Gulf and shortly moving to another place in Gulf. I am not complaining ,I enjoyed every bit of it.

  12. Ahhhhh Lilly! What a wonderful surprise to see you pop up in my reader!! You've been missed :) And I had to giggle a bit at your "padded back side" story as it completely goes hand in hand with my "large tire" story- ( I had a surgery that indeed put the equivalence of a "tire" around my midsection. In a drug induced haze they sent me home with a cold pack that said it was for "Large/tires," or so I thought. It actually said Large/ties… but it fit so well on my large tire you couldn't have convinced me otherwise!"

  17. Hi Lilly!!!! Great to hear from you and glad you are back to blogging again.

Ouch on the chair fall but glad your sense of humor wasn't damaged a bit.

Living in the country is a big change for you. You're about an hour from your daughter if I remember right??? Is there a baby in sight-- if I remember that being wishful thinking too???

I grew up around cows for a while-- lovely and peaceful but A LOT of flies-- Ha! Have you noticed cows don't move very fast or get flustered often-- very mellow as I recall.

What's new with me? Nothing great. I've been MIA from blogging for a while too and can't seem to find my mojo again... but I'm working on it.\

    Cheers, xo jj
