This one you will need your tissues for. A painfully shy pizza delivery man looks set to join Susan Boyle on Britain’s Got Talent show.
Welshman Jamie Pugh, 37, follows in her footsteps by also choosing a song from the hit musical Les Miserables at a recent audition in Cardiff. Just before going on stage he says that he hasn't slept for three nights. He adds: “I suffer from severe stage fright, it has totally crippled me, and I’ve come today to see if I can get through three minutes.”
And, by now everyone must have seen the T-Mobile dance ad filmed at Liverpool Station, London in January. Last Thursday Londoners were asked to turn up at Trafalgar Square to film the next ad. Everyone turned up thinking they were going to be dancing. Instead, it was a giant karaoke with 13,000 people. The singing is questionable but the enjoyment is not. Maybe we could replace warfare with karaoke machines. Music has a wonderful way of uniting everyone and making us forget our troubles! Beatles music in particular. Can you pick which one is my sister? I would recognise her voice anywhere.....
Makes you wonder how many musical bloggers we have out there. I think we need a Bloggers Got Talent show. Wouldn't it be fun? Anyone who can sign or dance or play a musical instrument sign up here. Oh and if you want to enter a giveaway look to the post on the right and just leave your name!
Damn, I can't watch that at work. Will check it out later tonight!
ReplyDeleteThe pizza man is so awesome. He made me cry just watching him. He is going to give Susan Boyle a run for her money. I love the giant Hey Jude but I have no musical talent. Not a musical bone in my body!
ReplyDeleteYup. You're so right. Like most other places in the world, Britain's got loads of talented people - it's just a pity so few of them are politicians :)
ReplyDeleteI just loved Jamey, what a feel good moment for me. After I wiped away my tears I sane HEY JUDE with the masses...thank you for the tears and the smiles...LOve to start a Monday singing!!
ReplyDeleteLovely Lilly I enjoyed so much. I had seen the 2nd one just yesterday in blog land. It made me smile and sing a long.
ReplyDelete(I can play the hell out of music.. I just push play it's amazing what I can do ;-))
Those T-mobile ads are true feel good adverts, I always want to replay them over and over!
ReplyDeleteOn this one, hubby and I were a little slow on the uptake, and ended up needing to rewind again and again to check if it was indeed P!nk singing near the beginning. Doh!
Oh, and I cried at the pizza man too. I'm a sucker for an underdog.
x
Jamie! Wow, he sang with his soul. You could just see how the music moved through him. Amazing, that will be one heck of a show :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun would that be to show up and participate in a T-mobile ad! This a great way to start off my week.
Thanks for the cheery post, have a great week Lilly!
oh, oh, oh ~ I've been waiting for this! I play the flute AND I sing, Ms. Lilly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links, I hadn't seen either of them.
Lilly thanks for a great post - love that ad and I don't think it's playing in the US.
ReplyDeleteI think music/dancing go great with blogging. Think of that "where the hell is matt" thing.
Oh - I'm going to "borrow" that youtube clip but I'll be sure to credit your pointing it out to me.
Lilly, This post spoke directly to me. My stage name is Jamie and the mc's in my book sing "Hey, Jude" together when they're first getting together. Pretty f'in awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't watch it now...but at work..would have loved to!
ReplyDeleteSo, there seem to be all types of underdogs out there! I'm glad that this show brought about so much positive change in these people's lives! (I hope its positive!!)
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing! Love the idea of this taking the place of war!
ReplyDeleteLilly, I gave a shout out to you for finding this great crowd pleasing clip.

Your readers point out one of the problems with youtube clips - not being able to watch at work. Two other problems I've had - no longer available and not available in certain countries.
I can´t see the clips either, but about that contest for bloggers...I wouldn´t be able to enter any catagory! :) Not very talented that way...but it would be fun the vote on!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't carry a tune in a Gucci bag -- but I'd be willing to take the bag anyway!
ReplyDeleteI wish we would do that here in America! I would soooo show up!!!
ReplyDeleteYou mean like a blogging Gong Show? No.Please.No.
ReplyDeleteThe first couple of times I saw Boyle, at a practice I am working for(small TV screen) I'd thought she was a man. ~Mary
Jamie Pugh is excellent, thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get the pizza guy to play but Hey Jude was awesome! I'd have participated in that in a heart beat and I can't carry a tune to save my soul! Love it!
ReplyDeleteLily,
ReplyDeletei think i've this very post of yours again at that copycat MagazineUK....
ps

You are a witty writer and wonderful blogger:)
Jamey was fabulous! I love all this raw undiscovered talent!
ReplyDeletei liked jamie very much..but i liked susan boyle better..wonder if they might kiss?..
ReplyDeletei like the dancing better than the singing..some where paul macartney just had a heart attack.
I love the idea of using music instead of warfare! And what a great idea to have a huge karaoke party at Trafalgar Square!
ReplyDeleteOh, Lilly. I cried while watching Jamie sing. He has such a terrific singing voice. I hope that a recording company will give him a contract. I like to sing as well and am so terrified in front of audience.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it would be so good if everybody in the world would live in harmony. It's definitely a much, much better environment for everybody. Unfortunately, there are some groups of people that are so into the destruction of the existence of others. Very sad.
Hey, how come I didnt know about Trafalgar Square because I could have gone. I would have loved that. How infectious is it and no, they cannot sing at all but that is the whole point isn't it no-one cares at all. Stroke of marketing genius even if it is going to make just another corporation a lot of money. As for the Welshman, I think he was holding back a lot but maybe with some confidence we might see another Tom Jones. Imagine! I did see Pink but which one was your sister?
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks so much for showing me that. We don't get "Britain's Got Talent" over here in the states. He's so talented, such a strong vibrato in his voice.
ReplyDeleteIt's only just the beginning for him!
OMG Lils!!! I cried like a phreakin' BABY! He has extraordinary stage presence for that venue and a wonderful, wonderful voice!
ReplyDeleteBeing a bit shy in that way, I totally related to him and was rooting for him! I could see him on Broadway!
I miss you! Lots to catch up on.
{xoxo} Juls~
I cried at the pizza man.
ReplyDeleteGood voices are amazing... More and more, I appreciate hearing them, how enchanting they really are in describing a story/message...
ReplyDeleteIts great all these ordinary people are having the chance to show their extraordinary talents.
ReplyDeleteI think it is miraculous how music and song can touch our soul!
ReplyDelete....just took another peak. I do have to laugh at how angelic and noble they've made Piers, Amanda and Simon look. Almost hilarious really. You'd think they were in church or something. The only thing missing from Simon was, "I'm going to Disneyland!"
ReplyDelete@ Kanani - I agree do you think they are acting - it is a bit OTT to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI cry every time I watch the T-mobile ad. I keep coming on to watch the Jamie guy but I never do because I keep watching "Hey jude" over and over and I bawl every time. Why do I cry at the dumb ad? It is just overwhelming to see that many people all gathered and singing. I LOvE IT! I may have to steal it. I just can't get enough!
ReplyDelete@ Sandi - hey I am like you - go steal it so you should. You do know you have the numbers to make your own little video dont you? Gives me chills to because its all age groups, colours, races just having fun and cuttin gloose. I think it should be compulsory. Nwo this is what religion is all about Sandi. Truly!
ReplyDeleteJamey made me cry - its so great when someone fear is conquered, how truly freeing and it ffects even the most hardened hearts in watching it too.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I can see your sister, shes the one thats in the top right hand corner about 27 from the right ;) Great clips thanks for sharing them otherwise I never get to see these things!

ReplyDeleteAnnette, good call you got it in one!!! Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDelete@ Magee - the world needs just simple stuff, to make us feel good. People are hurting and we love to see an underdog do well. It makes a change.
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for sharing that video with Jamie, Lilly. It was beautiful and very touching.
ReplyDelete@ Kay - does this mean you are back??? I am coming over to see how your trip went.
ReplyDeleteI saw the Jamie Pugh audition on the re-run last Sunday. it was at the New Theatre (which isn't new at all!)here in Cardiff... I was fighting to hold the tears back as I was sat in my friend Carl's flat with him! I was totally choked I've gotta say... It's one of the best TV moments I've seen for a long time.
ReplyDeleteJulian
I initially trained in Mime...Very peaceful.
ReplyDelete:)
henry
@ Julian, I know its a real tear jerker. Does he come from the same place Tom Jones does? I hope he does so well!!!
ReplyDelete@ Henry - you are bad, you know. How about doing some mime on your blog!!!
Lilly, I've always believed in destiny. What God has planned for us is our destiny. Sometimes, it takes years before a hidden talent is discovered - Jamie Pugh, Susan Boyle - and sometimes a talent is discovered very early on - Hollie Steel.
ReplyDeleteI refer to all sorts of talent, and not just public talent or ones that can make one famous or rich. Perhaps I should call them gifts. I encourage all your readers to be inspired to discover their own hidden talents - gifts. It might be as simple as "helping others", "cooking or creating your own delicious recipes", "making people laugh", "teaching", etc. The big things do dazzle, but the small things matter too.
Be blessed and thanks always for sharing.
- LJ
Lilly Jones - you are so gifted with words. You and your sister are very special people. Thanks for visiting and always leaving such wonderful comments. Always make me feel more positive about the world.
