Friends

This is my friend Julian who is from Cardiff, Wales. He sent me this video link of him singing as he likes to do. Singing I mean, not sending videos.

Well I understand all about loving to sing because I like to sing too. Except no-one encourages it. Goodness knows why. I really like his voice and he doesn't quite believe me. Simply because he plays the guitar really well. And football too. So, you listen and let me know what you think. Of his voice. Don't mention the shirt because I am totally undecided yet whether its his colour. It's an old Elvis song I believe.

Oh and I really like to discover new talent so if you have any one you know who is a great singer, dancer, artist or whatever I am happy to feature them on my blog. I am just amazed (and totally jealous) that there are so many clever people out there.

Must get my juggling balls out and show you what I can do sometime.......and on that note, Braja (Lost and Found in India blog), it's like this, I am not as clever as you (or as funny, you have to check her blog) and can't blog everyday....its all those balls I have to juggle...sometimes they land on my head....besides silence is golden and some of us live in VERY QUIET cities where nothing much happens.

And Julian yes we know you just did it off the cuff in your lounge room or where ever so we will take that into account. I don't mean to throw the spotlight on you but when a person (moi) doesn't have any talents of their own they have to live through others' musical talents.....so you are doing me the favour...because you have heard me sing and it's either you or me on here....oh yes, I thought somehow you would see it my way...that's what friends are for.

PS I lost everyone off my blog roll and am trying to add all my favourite blogs again - bear with me...

  3. Lilly darling since you cannot be present daily I believe I shall do a Lilly log on my site for those days you cannot be present; thus your name shall be spoken in blogland even on days you don't blog. I think this means eternal bloghood or something and also i think that's a good thing I'm not sure sure I'll have to check....

  5. well here we go - twice the feedback in the one comment - first me - just great - sounds like a young tom jones - is that the welsh connection coming thru maybe ??

Now darling boy - who is a little ill today so is on my lap.

Firstly, where are the girls says DB ... he wants to see the girls (backup singer girls he means).

Secondly, and I am afraid it is about the shirt .... too girlie was the verdict - why I asked - to be told pink is only for girls. I pushed a bit harder as this is the boy who wore pink yesterday, who sleeps under a pink doona and has a pink puppet .... to be told it is alright when he wears pink becuase he is a little boy, but big boys can't wear pink. He is adament :)

    hugs le

ps let me have the final say - that is a voice a girl could get use to ... if you know what I mean.....

  6. I really liked Julian's voice too. I cold imagine sitting back enjoying that. Welsh people can sing it is true. Can we put in requests? That is a cool idea maybe you could have a talent showcase on your blog. I throw darts does that count?

  7. wow, he's alright!! He must really think Highly of you to send you this!! And come on , lets see your video, I bet your better than you think! Sweet post... LA

  8. The dude is chill and let me tell you only Julian could wear that shirt and totally own it!!

Great song to showcase your voice.

    Peace - Rene

  9. He kind of reminds me of Tom Jones...who I think is also Welsh....tell your friend to beware of flying undies.....Congrats on being a Saucy Blog....

  10. I forgot to say that you ladies don't know cool shirts when you see them. I've got something similar so don't upset me LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'd go see Julian the lounge singer and maybe even throw girly things at him, like myself ~ LoL

    ReplyDelete
  12. He has a great voice! I kind of like the shirt, on him, because not every man can wear that color.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, it is nice! Nicely surprised... the shirt, the verdict is still out. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lilly, he is a good singer! Funny you should mention that you think it's an old Elvis song because I kept hearing a distinct Elvis tone to his voice, more than Tom Jones, I think.

About the shirt, though....hmmm, well I could never wear it, but then I don't do red very well. Was that evasive enough for you? lol

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree with Le above. Does sound a lot like Tom Jones. He's really talented and you're awesome for wanting to showcase talent.

    ReplyDelete
  16. listen, i am lucky my kids tolerate my voice! they aren't old enough to know better yet!

I think he is good! shirt, needs some work!

    ReplyDelete
  17. That was great! He has a wonderful voice. I tend to break glass when I sing...

    ReplyDelete
  18. I live in Wales I am willing to go listen to you sing Julian. I liked it a lot and I love the shirt. Good one Lilly.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks everyone for your comments. Julian will be too embarassed to look at this maybe. My opinion is he sounds like Paul McCartney for quieter songs and yes there is a touch of Tom Jones, Elvis and even Rod Stewart. Oh I do wish I could sing but I love listening to other people. Thanks Julian for letting me put you out there in the blogosphere!!!! Oh and before I forget Sylvia is going to post some pics of her daughter in a couple of weeks so check back on her blog - she is one gorgeous dancer. What, does that mean we have no more talent in the house?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think he sounds fantastic, I am also trying that creative side of making music, we shall see, not making any promises that I will succeed in that. LOL.

Your prints are in the air coming your way:) and thank you so much for the lovely feature, *smile* :))

  21. Um Leigh, tell me what is it that you just do not do. You are amazing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nice voice!

How do you lose a blog roll?

    Is that common?

Braja is hilarious. She comments on my blog and her comments are better than my blog post!

    ReplyDelete
  23. @ Saundra - I was deleted one I had duplicated and obviously a whole lot were selected for some reason and they are all gone.....I have the ones I floow through Blogger but there are heaps more...so I will jsut keep trying to recall them all. Yes Braja is a funny lady alright!!

  24. I thought that was really good. Julian has a really nice quality to his voice. When is he going to do some more so we can see what else he does, maybe with his guitar? Maybe you could have a talent quest Lilly. I love his shirt makes me think of summer and beach weather.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I liked it very much, Lilly. He's got a lovely voice. Kind of reminds me of Englebert Humperdink. I don't know if that's the correct spelling.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ Kay, yes I forgot about him. Thats a good thought too. I think you spelt it right but we know who you mean anyway. Surely that couldnt have been his name, no?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hmmmm ! He can sing, but the shirt, well, I don't know about it. Then again I've been going through a black phase lately.
I love to sing, my partner hates me singing and often tells me so. However I've got the perfect reply,
"Hey, I used to be a crap singer, thank God you didn't know me then !"

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey Jon, I like that reply I must use it. Yes I am a bit of a black fiend too. I just find it way more easier sometimes. I watched the Johnny Cash movie the other night and I kind of like his idea - he always wore black. Gosh how simple would it be to dress then.

  29. It was very lounge rooomie but he has a nice voice:-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think he has a great voice. It has a huskiness to it which is appealing to me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, he's way talented!! He should do something about this.

    Congrats on your SITS day!

  32. Good morning, Most Beautiful Lilly! I like your friend, Julian, and he sounds a little like Elvis too! He does have a nice voice. You know, I don't think that shirt with the white flowers on the pink background bothers him a bit. He's flaunting it!! lol
Oh, you're a sweetheart. Thank you so much for your kind words to me! I do get carried away from time to time. Yes, and Lily is a most precious name for my egg dish. She's adorable, but can't compare to you, my beautiful new friend. And I like Lilly spelled with 2 ls!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia :)

  33. Yes he has got and Elvis style, although I've never heard the song before.

I bet you have a secret talent...being a fantastic blogger and writer is one of them :)

Sorry I haven't been around and thank you so much for checking up on me a few days ago. Work pressure is still driving me up the wall...it'll all calm down soon (I hope)

    love

  34. GREAT voice. I really enjoyed the video.

I know you said to not mention it but I'm not diggin' the color of the shirt. Maybe same print in a darker color.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Very nice voice!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hi Lily - I love to sing too but it's not for public performances though.

    Cute shirt!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Good Morning Lilly! :) Stopped by to see what is happening in Lilly's world and to my delight there was a talent show... Julian does have a Tom Jones appeal shirt and all with a few Elvis moves. :) I could see him on the Billboards in Vegas. I would like to see his talented guitar playing. That would give him the edge over Tom.

I love singing and often forget that I am doing in while I work... generally it is a hum during that time but it's music all the same. I recently started playing guitar but certainly not enough to call a talent yet.

I love your Pics from the zoo too. I have to say that the Giraffe pic is photoriffic! :) The Lobster sign was funny too. :) I would love to see a Kangaroo in real life some time... as long as there aren't any gloves involved and from a admirable distance. ;) They are fascinating and apparently more talented than I knew (being able to chill and catch a game with their mates). ;)

Thank you so much for your comments on my blog. When ever I see your pic I simply smile and know the words will touch my heart. :) Have a tremendous tuesday. :)

Many blessings and much encouragement for you today.

  38. wow NICE!!! and very easy on the eyes to boot!

  39. I enjoyed the video and he does have a good voice! I'm like you though, Lilly, Nobody wants to hear me sing. Not even Greg. He says I can't hold a tune to save my soul. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow. It sounds like a professional recording. Yes, he's got a nice voice. I kind of like the shirt. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'd listen to him. And don't sell yourself short, Lilly. Why do you think there so many people who read your blog?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lilly I think the truth is you told Julian to wear something that matched your blog. We know how you are about colours matching. I really like his voice a lot, Now I can sing do you want to feature me?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Julian sounds good and I love that song. Soothing and romantic. Hmm.
Maybe a trip to Wales Lilly?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey, I like him! Great voice AND I think I like his shirt to!

Oh man, I would never record my voice...thats only something one want to hears when they are pretty sauced up.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'd say he has a really nice voice. I enjoyed it! And he's pretty dang cute too!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Nice voice. I actually like his shirt, too!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow! What a great voice!!! He is a natural. I love his voice. So smooth and well rounded. He also has a great range. He could easily sing professionally if he wanted to. I did music/singing and performing at one point and his is the best natural voice I've heard in ages. By natural, I mean no pretense, no put-on, artificial show, etc. HE ROCKS!!! By that I mean, he is really really good! He could make a living with his voice. Wonderful. I hope he has people in his life that see his amazing talent and encourage him. Too many slip through the cracks because nobody sees them and then the singer/artist ends up thinking they must not be good. HE IS GREAT!! So smooth!

Hi dearest Lilly, I've missed you so much. Slowed way down with so much work...and you have some GREAT posts here. You always do.

Re: the singing, if I can get a good recording sometime of one of my original love songs maybe I'll let you post one sometime. If I dare. LOL You are with always! Know that. You're not someone I could ever forget! :) :) Big hugs and love coming your way girl!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. That was wonderful! I'm glad I stumbled onto you from braja's blog. (She's hysterical...)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I loved his shirt, but then I'm crazy. However, he does have a nice voice. Congrats on being saucy this week, SITSta!

  50. no doubt about it Lilly..
the Welsh have it all sewn up when it comes to singing....Julian is a fantastic singer...he'd give Tom Jones a run for his money...
I love the pink shirt ..really cool!!
I have a Welsh background but like you I can't sing for my supper but my daughter..Charlotte has a wonderful voice...
the only problem is she doesn't like to sing for anyone...
I'm madly trying to get her to go to singing lessons now that she has finished year 12...
a great post Lilly...I'll check out Braja's blog too :)
    have a great arvo :)

  51. I like it!
I think people would pay me not to sing!
The shirt --yes, I see what you mean. Not sure. Maybe a high collared Elvis shirt instead? ;)

BTW, I've started a meme called blogshare Monday and I've kicked it off for next week --early! So go around click here and see if it's something you'd like.

  52. @ Henry - Hello my friend, glad you are among the land of the living. No, I am a background kind if girl when it comes to any entertainment. You on the other hand are the thespian - when are we going to see you in action on stage? Anyway hope you get some time off very soon.

@ Nette - thank you, thats very sweet!

@ Robin - hello Mr Rainforest lovely to see you here. I would be more than happy to put you singing on my blog - I have yet to hear your music. How can I do that because I know you are a composer too! And slow down there, there are always great posts to read no matter when plus I am just waiting until you do your book tour and then I will be heading the queue!!

@ Kim - oh its a shame if Charlotte does not want to but I am sure she has loads of talent and it is something she could take up a bit later on if she ever felt like it. And it would be unfair if you could sing because you are an extraordinary painter as it is!!

  58. Your friend has a wonderful voice. He has that Welsh Tom Jones thing going on, doesn't he? I love your friend's voice.

Think pink shirt? Not so much. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Bravo! Bravo! I thoroughly enjoyed the featured talent. Your friend has a great singing voice, definitely. But I sensed that he was trying to hold some in. My suggestion, next time he sings, not to be afraid to give it all and belt it out. Easy fo me to say, huh, because I'm not the one singing. Hehe. Thanks, Lilly, for sharing your friend's talent with us. I like seeing talents like that, especially coming from our blog community. Does he sing professionally? I ask that because he looks very comfortable on stage as he sings.

    Have a great day,
    Tasha
