Silent Sundays

.

I went to our local Zoo today to do some work and while I was there I took a few pictures of some of the residents (click on the image to enlarge). I was impressed with the brown bear who was standing up playing with a tyre hanging from a tree. He was having lots of fun but I resisted the urge to join him! Sometimes, more than one is a crowd.

While I was there I took a special picture for fellow blogger Pearl from Pearl, why you little...blog. Pearl made the comment on Des's last post that she "had a hard time believing that there ARE kangaroos. Silly animals! I've never seen one live; and the thought of them bounding across an open plain is just confounding."

You see, it's like this Pearl. The Kangaroos that you see in your Zoos may just be the ordinary kind of guys that we allow to emigrate to the USA. They 'bound' and don't do much else. The guys that we have here are a lot more talented. That's why I thought I would take this picture of Big Boy Booza who was kicking back at the Zoo today. He was propped up at the bar drinking Fosters for the whole three hours I was there. Watching football with his mates. He was a little wobbly on his legs afterwards ....but thank goodness he was close to home. So now what do you say?
From The Mind of A Mom, now can you see why we have to tie our kangaroos down, sport.

And Barbara (Barbara Blundell's Blog), I have to confess that when I was walking around the Zoo I thought of you too. Actually I felt guilty being there taking pictures of caged animals because I know that I, including your other loyal readers, want to free all these animals when we get to rule the world. One day.

So, making sure I was not letting the team down, because I did feel overwhelmed by those bears, tigers and giraffes, I came home via the Restaurant that serves the live lobster. I summoned up some courage and I placed this sign at the entrance door. I hope you will be proud of my efforts......ummmm, maybe you might get a few extra visitors to your blog....by the name of Constable something or other.... hope you don't mind..

Happy Sunday everyone and I can't close the comments today because I want to know what you think of the hunky Kangaroos we have here. Especially you Pearl.

  3. Pearl, honey, you gotta get over to Oz, that's all i can say. I had a field full of kangaroos when I was a kid and used to ride one to school... you'd see them bouncing down the main street all the time, it's no big deal. they even had kangaroo parking spaces...

  6. @ Le - I havent been to the Zoo in years but had a job there (serioulsy) so had a look around. Loved the brown bears!!!

@ Leslie - you must go, it has changed a lot in about 15 years since last I went! Yes Pearl needs to come for a visit to see how many kangaroos we have hopping down the highways!

@ Braja - you rode one to school too? Wow, so what do they think about Kangaroos in that oh so quiet place you live in Braja? By the way the Aussie women cricketers won the test against India. Makes a nice change seeing our guys can't do the same thing - I guess it's sort of even now.

@ Barbara - thanks Barbara - I didnt want to let you down on the Lobster front. Take Care!

@ Gaspegirl - thanks for your good wishes

@ Dee - he sure does but its the schooner of beer sitting in front of him which is more of a concern.

@ CJW666 - mmmm, are you suggesting some kind of funny business is going on here on Lilly's Life. Ask your son what kind of tough roos we have here. Sure it's not often you see them sipping on ale but every now and then......it was a very hot day here is all I will admit to, glad to see you sir!

@ Mandy - thank you and you are one of the most creative people blogging - love your food ideas!!! Thanks for commenting. Appreciate it.

  14. Lilly, you really make me laugh. Love the lobster sign! And I would love to sit and have a Fosters with Big Boy - he looks like he might be a mean drunk, though.

Sounds like you had a great day.

  15. Congrats on being a saucy SITStah!! I've never seen a real kangaroo in person... how cool would that be? I've heard they are quite strong and powerful. My boys love to watch Kangaroo Jack. I have to giggle when they take that photograph with Jack... thinking he's dead. Way silly, but it makes me smile.

Congrats again on being so saucy!!

  16. I would LOVE to sit at the bar and share a few drinks with that kangaroo. I wonder what he would have to say. Are they known to be aggressive or pretty passive?

I love the zoos, I gotta get baldyman to go with me--OR i guess i need to just go alone.

  17. Over form SITS.

William has a kangaroo in his kindergarten class with him. They really do exist.

  18. Oh, what great pictures! I love them! and I'd like to have beer with that kangaroo, too. I think going to the zoo -- even though I do hate to see animals in cages -- is a wonderful chance to see all the beautiful creatures that share the planet with us. Thanks for a big smile this gray Sunday morning!

  23. Hey Lilly

It's great to hear you had a fun time at the zoo. Okay I am going to contact the owners of Wandering Wendall and tell them to check the local pubs to see if he is out with his mates having a pint of Fosters and never mind checking the wondering wilderness. When they start laughing at me I am going to tell them go to Lilly's blog and look at the picture! :o)

  24. My favorite photo of all was the Giraffe. That in my book was a perfect picture. Thanks for sharing!

  33. OMG-awesome pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. Lilly, I still suspect that kangaroos are not real.

    You know. Like platypus. :-)

Good luck with the pinhead thing. I like your reasoning -- plus you could probably charge people to come look at you; and since you are rather attractive you may eventually end up making quite a good living!

  41. Oh that bear sure looks big standing up. I think that Kangaroo looks like he should be called Bruce. Dont you think? What a hoot!
Notice now that Pearl has given you another animal to find, a platypus. I might be tempted to visit the Zoo now. I am sure we have Kangaroos over here in the colder parts of the world. I'll bring a can of Fosters and slip them one if we do.

  46. @ Matt - Yes they can get mean actually and can box you. They are very strong and can write off you car if you manage to hit one on the road. As Leslie said.

@ One Wired woman - Kangaroo Jack - its funny isnt it a small Wrold - thanks for dropping by.

@ Dawnie - Just like us I think - if we get annoyed we get a bit angry too. My Dad used to have a pet one. Get the baldyman to go with you definitely.

@ Kristin - on how cute - William has a pet kangaroo in class - wow. Not sure that would even happen here.

@ Sylvia - imagine what kind of phots you could have got. I just point the camera, click and hope for the best. You must give me tips someday.

@ Rhonda - I misread that and thought you wrote that beer is your favourite. No I love the bear standing up - they look way cuter on two legs instead of four.....

@ Georgie, Iheartbowheads, Queenie Jeanie,Susie, Rachel, Jori-o Tiffany, Kdlost - thanks for your comments, ladies!

@ Mind of a Mom - Wandering wendell is definitely at the pub if he is a real Aussie!!
