I am so excited...

I just had to share this with you.

No it's not about a researcher called Tal Yarkoni from Washington University in St Louis who contacted me about research he was doing on personality and blogging. Do you think I should have been offended that he contacted me on the day I told the world I swore at a police officer? There seemed to be a lot of questions about anger, poor impulse control and paranoia. Is this guy related to any of you? Just asking...

Anyway, I digress.

I'm excited .......for another blogger.

I was just looking at the list of winners of the 35th Annual People's Choice Awards and at the very end of the list was an award called User generated video - Barack Roll.

This video was done by a 24 yr old Aussie blogger, video producer and lawyer called Hugh Atkin (
his blog has not been updated since the end of November so he's obviously very busy). This is a fantastic effort.

I posted a few of his videos on my blog last August and I am reposting these again so you can see them. You will notice in the comment section that Hugh made a comment (in August) which said, "it's always a very nervous thing uploading a video (to You Tube) and not knowing how people will react".

Well Hugh, it seems 'the people' may have reacted pretty positively given the five and a half million hits you've had and given you've just won a People's Choice Award. What an understatement!

The winning video is the first of the three featured.

Whether you like these types of viral videos or not, it does show what can happen when someone's 'work' gets discovered on the net and how quickly it can spread. How exciting is that!

So go forth bloggers and do great things.

Some of you just don't know how clever you are. Shelia I am looking right at you - you took us all by surprise and revealed your truly wonderful drawing talents on your blog today!! Bravo!!

  1. Thanks for sharing and for the laughs. They're indeed very funny. Ahhh...They look so real. Some people just have way too much talent and time on their hands to be creative.

  2. I think this guy is really good too - the monty python/batman one just cracked me up. Very creative indeed. Hey Tasha, did all that blood and gore give you any ideas for David's story???? Wouldnt it be hilarious if we had a funny story like that!

  3. I sort of have an idea. I just need to do some research and some writing.

Humour would be a great addition to one of his past lives.

  4. @ Tasha - cannot wait to read your story - just remember to have fun with it!!!

@ Redchair - I laughed out loud at them (which we dont get to do much anymore it seems) and thought I had to share. Obama has the sweetest expressions on his face. And the Black Knight - I so have to go and get some Monty Python videos out - the British do humour so well! Crazy stuff.

  5. Hi. Tried to comment here before, but not sure that it worked.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the videos - really glad people are liking them!

It's always a very nervous thing uploading a video and not knowing how people will react.

  7. Good one's Lilly. You hit the spot tonight. I do need a good laugh once in awhile. King Arthur-V-Batman, OMG

  8. Hugh Atkin - Well all kudos to you for making such great entertainment. Very clever!! I was just about to leave a comment on your blog to say that I was going to post these. We need to share the laughs!!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope more people who read my humble blog stop by yours to see what you have come up with next. By the way, do you really want to get involved in something strange that is travelling across the world called PAST LIVES? Check our Past Lives stories out in the links on my side bar. The thing I thought when I saw your Arthur/Batman video is that we need something done in a different genre to tell a story of David's past life. We need humor injected into this series and to move away from just the written word. Want to have a go??? A video of a past life for David..? I can understand if its outside your normal work but it would get some attention to your site. Otherwise I am the only Aussie rep and I wouldnt want people to think this is all we can manage! Thanks for stopping by and I will continue posting your videos as long as its all ok by you!!!

  11. Enjoyed those. Have you seen the Batman movie? Why does Batman have that voice - like a cross between Clint Eastwood and a heavy breather?

    ReplyDelete
  12. nice post!! thanks for making me laugh by posting these videos..i need that once in a while..

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Sarah - yes it is very clever!
@ Stephan - I think they did Batmans voice like that to make it different from the Bruce Wayne or something - a disguise - oh who knows I did see an article about it somewhere though if you want to Google it.
@ Bryan - thanks for dropping by - yes we could all do with a laugh hey? Love your site by the way!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks everyone. Glad you had a laugh. Hugh will probably be bound for way bigger things now I imagine!! Good on him.

And Anns Rants - he's probably doing the rounds of 'certain types' of blogs. The unhinged ones!!! LOL I did the survey, hey he has to look at my blog and it's one more visitor and the survey gives you the result at the end of it too, which are interesting in themselves.

  34. Barack sure has some moves. he has a real grace about him that guy. Oh putting those together must have taken some time.I really liked the last one about the words too because the expressions on Barack's face are priceless in the context that Hugh has put this film. Thanks for letting us see them.

  36. I was going to comment, but then saw I already had, scratches head, while reviewing those slow dusty old memory banks Then I realized what was going on.

The interesting thing was my comment this time was going to be more about a blogger winning a Peoples Choice award instead of the videos. LOL.

  37. G;day from Melbourne - thank you for the visit and the kind comment.

I have to scroll through your blog and check out your post about giving the policeman an earful!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh Lilly. I wouldn't call you paranoid or even THINK of questioning your impulses or anger management.

I wouldn't dare - in case you were having a bad day :)

    Great post!

  39. haha, that is the first I have seen the Barack Roll video....it made me smile! I love the thought of having a president that doesn't look like a complete fool when he dances! :o)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Can you imagine any previous President being able to dance like that? How great is that. Loved the videos and I love how clever people are to splice up tapes like that to make something hilarious out of them. Best of all it wasnt insulting the man either. It's pure fun. I thought that final one was so well done. The expressions on Barack's face seemed perfect for Hugh's (I assume) questions. Barrack is cute too. Made me smile and well done to Hugh. So how is the no sugar, flour alcohol etc going?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have seen these before...they are so funny! Thanks again for the laugh.

BTW--I answered your question in the comments section of my post. :)

  46. I've never seen the video Barack Roll. The guy is amazing. Can you imagine how much research went into finding the right words in all his different speeches and interviews? It boggles the brain!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Lilly. Have an awesome weekend.

  53. That last video with the word association was hilarious, this is the first time I've seen it. Thank you! I've never attempted to put together a YouTube, I'm too much of a slacker to put that kind of time into anything. I'm glad that not all bloggers are slackers like me. ;-)
